Description

Join our intimate group of just 3 and set out on a 10-week path toward mastery.

This programme was created for complete beginners, culture enthusiasts, and language learners alike. It’s a unique blend of systematic creative practice and meditative calm.

Why join us?

  • A deeper connection with Chinese culture: Go beyond surface impressions. Whether you’ve already travelled to China or are still dreaming of it, this course brings history, philosophy, and artistic elegance to life through your brush.
  • Support for your language learning: Learning Chinese? Calligraphy lets you feel the characters “under your fingertips.” Writing with a brush strengthens visual memory and helps you grasp the structure and rhythm of characters in a way no ballpoint pen ever could.
  • A creative habit and a sense of calm: Regular, stress-free practice builds lasting skill. Choose one style (clerical, regular, or cursive) and watch your progress unfold week by week.

What you’ll learn

  • Choose your path: focus on one script style (clerical Lishu, regular Kaishu, or cursive Caoshu).
  • Discover the aesthetic principles and the philosophy behind every movement of the brush.
  • Master technique, pressure control, and the rhythm of guiding ink across the page.
  • Learn to read and copy the classical works of the old masters.
  • Create your own piece: at the end of the course, you’ll produce a traditional scroll written entirely in your own hand.

Who is this course for?

  • Artists and makers looking for a new form of expression.
  • Enthusiasts of East Asian culture.
  • Chinese language learners who want hands-on contact with the language.
  • Anyone in need of a mindful, meditative escape from everyday life.

What’s included?

  • A professional 15-piece Chinese calligraphy set, comprising:
  • two handmade brushes
  • a porcelain desk set: ink dish, brush rest, brush pot, and water dropper
