Song Dynasty Tea Ceremony

Chinese Tea Art Workshop

Ancient Chinese art of drawing on tea foam whipped up with a bamboo whisk

The Art of Song Dynasty Tea: A Dian Cha Workshop

Ever wondered where your favorite matcha latte actually came from? Long before modern cafes, the trendsetters of China’s Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD) were already masters of foam, whisks, and “painting” on tea.

If you are a Matcha Addict, a Sketchbook Soul, or just someone looking for a Zen-but-cool weekend vibe in Warsaw, this workshop is your playground.

Why You’ll Love This:

  • The OG Matcha Experience: Go beyond the latte. Experience Dian Cha (点茶)—the ancient ritual that inspired Japanese tea ceremonies.

  • Whisk Like a Pro: Grab a traditional bamboo whisk and learn the rhythmic “power-whisking” technique to create a foam so thick and creamy, it stays still while you draw on it.

  • Tea-Painting (Cha Bai Xi): This is where it gets creative! Use tea paste as your “ink” and the white tea foam as your “canvas.” It’s ancient, it’s artistic, and it’s incredibly satisfying.

  • Extreme Stress-Relief: There’s something strangely therapeutic about the sound of a bamboo whisk and the scent of high-grade powdered tea.

What’s on the Menu?

  1. Tea Gossip & History: A fun, quick dive into how tea became an art form and crossed borders.

  2. The “Cloud Foam” Lab: Hands-on practice. We’ll show you how to get that perfect, cloud-like consistency that makes Song-style tea legendary.

  3. Creative Session: Your turn to draw! Flowers, mountains, or even a cheeky smiley face on your tea, your rules.

  4. Tasting & Connection: Sip your creation, enjoy the vibes, and meet fellow tea and art lovers in a cozy setting.
