About Linmo
Hey! I’m Yating, founder of Linmo Studio. Now in my seventh year of living and working in Poland, I’ve taken the leap – alongside my day job as a creative producer – to turn a lifelong passion into a profession, teaming up with a Polish partner to open a studio devoted to Chinese calligraphy.
Where does the name LINMO come from?
临 (lín): “to face” the model. You place the stele rubbing or copybook beside you and reproduce every stroke by eye, internalising proportion, rhythm and brush energy.
摹 (mó): “to trace.” You lay translucent paper over the original and follow each line exactly, training muscle memory and brush pressure.
It’s where every great calligrapher began – and our metaphor for life: watch the masters first, then find your own line.

Meet Us
Why spread and study Chinese calligraphy in Poland?
Meditation in motion – Each vertical stroke syncs breath, heartbeat, and body – a surprisingly effective digital detox.
A touch of history – You trace the same gesture emperors and monks used 1,500 years ago; culture comes alive, not as a lecture but as movement.
A new eye for beauty – The art of proportion, contrast, and balance transfers to design, ceramics, even tattoo work.
A language without words – Even if you don’t know Chinese, you’ll feel the energy of each line—characters become images.
Community – Over tea, ink, and black-and-white blooms, you’ll meet people from every field-networking at its calmest.
写好每一笔,成就每一天
Perfect each stroke – elevate each day.
Discover Calligraphy - Warsaw Studio
Our calligraphy workshops are held regularly in our Warsaw studio, where we’ll guide you through every stage of the creative journey—from exploring the origins of Chinese characters, to working with traditional brush, ink, paper, and inkstone, mastering brush control, learning various calligraphic styles, and ultimately producing your own unique piece.
Hosted in collaboration with Karol Pomykała Studio, the sessions take place in a beautiful, green, light-filled space. Classes are intentionally small—just 5–6 participants—so we can focus on each person’s progress. The relaxed atmosphere also makes the workshop ideal for friends or as a cultural exchange experience.
Our workshops differ in duration and techniques covered. If you’d like to grasp the essentials of calligraphy but are short on time, we recommend the “Intro” mini-course. For a deeper dive, the weekly practice program offers a richer exploration of the art.
